The Amazon benefits from having three extremely distinct skill trees and knowing which skills make the biggest difference for the build is huge for making the character work. Updated on November 15th, 2021 by Hodey Johns: No build has managed to top this one when it comes to a Javelin-wielding powerhouse in the game. With a javelin in her hand and the right build guide, the Amazon becomes a beast on an unprecedented level. The Amazon is already a gifted class in Diablo 2: Resurrected, with lots of passives and a good mix of magic and physical damage for late-game enemies that have immunities and resistances. RELATED: Beginner Tips For Diablo 2: Resurrected That You Need To Know Apparently, nobody got this memo about the Javazon in Diablo 2: Resurrected. By letting a class specialize in everything, they have no effective weaknesses and game designers are well aware that this can effectively "break" the game. At high ias your Merc will be churning butter in his face with a mancatcher. There is a reason video games don't let tanks have extreme damage and mobility. If you have your Merc solo him with bad ias BPS he will smack him back and forth across throne room and your Merc will barely get a hit in. The best illustration for this would be Lister the tormentor. Do you think this is perhaps a factor in the best base discussion? The only times I really care about maxing my mercs DPS is when I got a monster I can't break immune on and even then it seems like better ias means more stun lock for me less for them. So let's say for infinity Merc I care about survivability 10x more than his dps. Even then though this is usually only a thing with -10/-20 weapons. These are the really high ias BPS, the kinds that were impossible to hit on vanilla but when your Merc is rocking gloves and can have 3 socket helms or 4 socket armor they become realistic. Having played a lot of A2 Merc on mods with corruptions I notice when you hit those really good ias bps it seems like he's taking a ton less damage because he's getting more hits in and stun locking monsters that smack him around at lower bps. Top tier but also potentially annoying to get: Great Poleaxe, Ghost Spear.Ĭlearly not top tier but everyone seems to think is top tier: Thresher, Giant Thresher. Overall Base rankings (non-War Pike division): While I do tend to prefer the higher minimum/lower maximum tighter range on a GPA, if I'm ready to make my Infinity and I don't have a 4os one yet I'm handing a Stygian Pike or Ogre Axe to Larzuk 100 times out of 100. Great Poleaxe is a 5-max and Ghost Spear is a 6-max. 2 of them get 4 sockets from Larzuk: Stygian Pike and Ogre Axe. The path of least resistance would be the 0 speed bases. It's not a mistake to make an infinity in a Cryptic Axe, and if you have the Cryptic Axe already by all means roll the infinity it's certainly not worth spending runes on a different base, but it's not the path of least resistance. Since Colossus Voulge's strength requirement potentially hurting its resale value makes it a non-starter for an infinity base, there is only one viable10-speed base, Cryptic Axe, and it rolls up to 5 sockets, meaning you only have a 1/6 chance of hitting 4 sockets with random sockets recipe and 1/10 with a shard. At exactly 8 IAS, which I think is impossible to get with current itemization, the -10 bases (Thresher, Giant Thresher) win, but once you have over 10 IAS, the -10 bases are always 3rd, and the -20 base (Mancatcher) is the lowest DPS base at any amount of IAS. The 10-speed bases (Cryptic Axe, Colossus Voulge) are best at certain intervals. In the non-War Pike division, these are the highest DPS bases at various amounts of IAS:Īt most amounts of IAS, the 0-speed bases win: Ogre Axe, Great Poleaxe, Stygian Pike, and Ghost Spear. It's far easier to get any of the other ones (edit: with the exception of Giant Thresher, another TC87 base that rolls up to 6 sockets). Because War Pike is a TC87 base and rolls up to 6 sockets, it's quite difficult to get an Ethereal 4os War Pike. If someone's telling you to pick Ogre Axe over Stygian Pike, that's them signaling they don't know wtf they're talking about and you shouldn't listen to anything else they say.Īt any amount of IAS greater than 3, War Pike-the 20-is the highest DPS base. Therefore, there's no difference between say an Ogre Axe and a Stygian Pike. The weapons at each speed base have the same average damage, some have larger ranges, but the average is the same (or, within 0.5 of each other if you want to be a pedant). There are 5 speed bases, higher = slower:Ġ : Great Poleaxe, Ogre Axe, Stygian Pike, Ghost Spear If you're not satisfied with that answer: Real talk: any elite eth polearm/spear is fine, CV will likely be tougher to resell due to str requirement, anything else isn't a big mistake.
